What role does transnational higher education play in the internationalization of universities in China: a comparative study between prestigious universities and non prestigious universities?
The fast development of transnational higher education has caught the attention of many scholars and international organizations. It is widely believed as a emerging world trend. As a new education form, transnational higher education is also very controversial. The growth of it has raised a number of issues such as the growth of it has led to a number of issues such as the licensing of providers, quality assurance of programs, equitable access, funding models, etc. These issues are central to the analysis of transnational higher education. However, it is difficult to address these issues, especially in terms of policies and regulations, without a good understanding of the fundamental elements such as what, how and why. The existing literature on the rationales of transitional higher education is suffering from one big problem: even though rationales are analyzed at three levels of both importing and exporting countries, the rationales identified are very general in nature and lack of hard data support. Little attention is paid to the differences among the subgroups at each level. In view of this limitation, this project proposes to do an empirical study on the rationales of transitional higher education and other internationalization activities at the institutional level and governmental level. The aims of study are to explore the role of transnational higher education in internationalization and to identify the differences between prestigious universities and non prestigious universities i n above aspect.
Transnational higher education in China: an analysis of the government's policies toward it
This research aims to review the development of transnational higher education in the last two decades and analyze the government policies toward transnational higher education. Four major research questions are: how has transnational higher education developed in the last decades? Why does the Chinese government encourage transnational higher education activities? What polices has the Chinese government published over the years and how have they changed? What are the features of the current polices and what problems do they run into in implementation?
成果
The conference this year covers a very large range of issues in education. I attended many sessions related to higher education in China, globalization, internationalization, and marketization of higher education. I got the opportunities to get to know some professors who are experts in my field of research and received many constructive feedbacks from them. I also made friends with many PhD students who have similar research topics with me.
On June 16th and 17th, I made two individual presentations on my study. One is under the title of "Transnational higher education in China: an analysis of the government's policies toward it", the other is under the title of "What role does transnational higher education play in the internationalization of universities in China: a comparative study between prestigious universities and non prestigious universities?" It was a very good learning experience for me. I learned a lot from others about the research skills and speech skills.
