Paper presentation proposals are invited for the 45th annual conference of Asian Studies on the Pacific Coast (ASPAC), scheduled to take place at Pomona College located in the Los Angeles area on June 17-19, 2011. The conference is hosted by the Pacific Basin Institute of Pomona College. The ASPAC conference this year will be held in conjunction with the annual conference of the Western Conference of the Association of Asian Studies (WCAAS). The theme of the conference is "Asia Rising and the Rise of Asian America."

Interested students and faculty are requested to submit their proposals to Professor Tsuneo Akaha, Graduate School of International Policy and Management, Monterey Institute of International Studies, Monterey, California by email at takaha@miis.edu by February 20. Papers focusing on Asian regional integration are particularly welcome. The conference website shows the proposal submission deadline as March 15, but to ensure successful application, proposals should be submitted to Professor Akaha, an ASPAC Board member, who will then organize a panel or two around common themes and submit them as complete panel proposals to the conference organizing committee.
